HEX FOUNDER RICHARD HEART ARRESTED IN ISTANBUL, $600,000 CASH AND ARSENAL SEIZED

Turkish authorities have reportedly arrested Richard Heart, whose real name is Richard James Schueler, in a joint intelligence and police operation in Istanbul.

Heart, founder of HEX, PulseChain and PulseX, was wanted under an Interpol Red Notice issued at Finland’s request.

Police reportedly detained Heart and his wife at a residence in Istanbul’s Beşiktaş district following extensive surveillance.

Authorities seized:

• $600,000 in cash
• 24 wristwatches
• 20 gold bracelets and 7 gold necklaces
• 7 firearms and 1,360 rounds of ammunition
• 12 mobile phones and 6 laptops
• 20 graphics cards and 14 SSDs
• 2 drones

In 2023, the SEC charged Heart with raising over $1 billion through unregistered crypto offerings and allegedly misappropriating at least $12 million in investor funds to purchase luxury goods, including sports cars, expensive watches and a 555-carat black diamond.

Heart was subsequently placed on Interpol’s wanted list in 2024 over separate allegations involving tax fraud and assault.

Both Heart and his wife have been taken into custody for questioning as the investigation continues.

Here is what's documented so far, and what isn't. Turkish outlets reported on October 14, 2026 that police and Turkey's MIT intelligence agency detained Richard Heart (legal name Richard James Schueler) and his wife in Istanbul's Beşiktaş district. The detention was tied to an Interpol Red Notice requested by Finland, which Finland sought in December 2024 over suspected aggravated tax fraud and assault. A Red Notice asks authorities to locate and provisionally arrest a person; it is not itself an arrest warrant. As of the reports I found, Turkish officials, Finnish police and Interpol had not confirmed the details, and it's unclear whether extradition proceedings have started. Reports also disagree on the cash seized, from about $600,000 to $4 million, and on how the case is described. CoinDesk says the charges include crypto fraud, tax fraud and assault, while Cryptobriefing frames it as tax evasion. The US SEC case from 2023 was dismissed in February 2025 on personal jurisdiction, not on the merits, so it did not decide the Finnish allegations. Everything here is allegation until a court rules. If you want to go deeper, the Decrypt and Crypto Valley Journal write-ups cite their sources, and Interpol's public notice database or Finnish prosecutors' statements would be the primary records to check once they're available. What did you read in the original post that prompted the question?
