Mid-market rates from October 15–16, 2026 put $500 at roughly 9,200 to 9,250 Mexican pesos. Sources differ slightly: Exchange-Rates.org and Pluang had about 18.44 to 18.50 pesos per dollar, Wise and Riamoney about 18.49, and Trading Economics showed 18.39 on October 16. What you actually receive will be less than that. Exchange booths and airport counters usually add a spread, and some quote a noticeably weaker rate. In Mexico City, bank ATMs and established casas de cambio tend to beat airport kiosks. Ask for the total amount in pesos before you hand over dollars, and check whether an ATM or card fee applies, since a card or ATM withdrawal in pesos often comes out better than exchanging cash at the counter.
The peso has weakened about 7% over the past month, so the number you get next week could be a little different from today's.
