It might be, and the photo alone can't settle it. The photo shows the front of a mint-colored Charmast power bank, but the recall is for one model. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled about 488,000 Charmast power banks, model W1056, sold exclusively on Amazon.com from December 2018 through September 2024, in black, blue, green, mint, pink and white. The lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite. The CPSC recorded 44 reports of units expanding, igniting, melting, overheating or smoking, including four reports of burns or blisters (CPSC recall notice, recall date December 19, 2024).
To check yours, turn it over. The model number is printed on the back: if it says W1056 and you bought it on Amazon.com in the US, it's in the recall. Other Charmast models and units sold outside the US or through other sellers are not included, according to the company's recall page.
If it is a W1056, stop using it and charging it now, and contact Charmast for a full refund. Don't throw it in the trash or a battery recycling box; take it to a facility that accepts damaged lithium batteries. Whatever the model, stop using any power bank that is swelling, hot to the touch, smells, or has a damaged case, and don't charge it on a bed or sofa or leave it charging unattended.
