Six people were detained on suspicion of entering a protected area without authorization and endangering others, according to a police official quoted by Middle East Monitor, which cites Le Parisien and Anadolu. Al Jazeera carries a video of the same action. Earlier, in September 2025, Palestinian and Israeli flags were projected onto the tower, not hung from it.
I found no report of a flag drop from the tower during the nationwide protests of 17 October 2026. A trending X topic called "Palestinian Flag on Eiffel Tower Sparks French Debate" appeared that day, and Daily Wire reported Palestinian flags at the Marianne statue at Place de la République. Those are social media and partisan sources, so treat them as leads, not confirmation. If the post you saw describes an October event, check whether it shows the tower itself and whether a French outlet such as Le Parisien or AFP has reported it. The May flag drop is the one I can confirm.
