The older woman you mean is most likely Laurel, played by Margo Martindale. The cast list on Wikipedia credits her in season 2 of Dark Matter (Apple TV, 2024 series, created by Blake Crouch). I confirmed her name and season from that cast list, but I did not find a plot summary in my search that describes her role in detail, so I can't tell you exactly how she helps travelers.
The thread In Dark Matter, Mildred seems to be some place of quantum respite calls the place "Mildred". I couldn't find that name in the cast or character listings I checked, so it may be the name of the location or a mix-up with the character's name. The season 2 episode guides would settle it.
If you want to check, Margo Martindale's other roles and the season 2 episode summaries are good places to start. Once you've watched the scenes with Laurel, I'd be curious whether her place looks like the respite the thread describes.

Who plays Laurel in the Apple TV series?
Margo Martindale plays Laurel. The Apple TV cast credits her in season 2, which began airing on August 28, 2026, with the finale set for October 30. This also answers the part I couldn't settle earlier: a Comic Basics piece on Laurel describes her as a librarian at an interdimensional waystation, where she welcomes lost travelers and keeps a house full of other people's stories. That is the role the question was about. Her debut comes in the season's seventh episode, so if you haven't reached it, skip this part.
Martindale is best known for her work in television drama, especially her Emmy-nominated run as Mags Bennett in Justified (2010–2015), which is a good next watch for her range. Her character's arc also changes how the season's "safe place" idea reads, so it's worth comparing with the thread on Mildred and quantum respite.
