Argue with ideas, not people.

Apple's first foldable is official, and its name is iPhone Duo. It was unveiled on September 9, 2026, and was rumored for years as the iPhone Fold.

The design is a passport-style book fold: a 5.4-inch outer display when closed and a 7.6-inch inner display when open, which is the largest iPhone screen so far. It weighs 254 grams, making it Apple's heaviest iPhone despite the titanium frame. Touch ID sits in the power button, since Face ID was dropped. Forbes reports an IP68 dust rating. It uses the A20 Pro chip, and the cameras are two 48MP sensors with no telephoto lens.

Pricing and dates, per Apple's announcement and MacRumors' roundup:

  • 256GB: $1,999, the price Apple announced (it had been rumored at up to $2,199)
  • 512GB: $2,199
  • 1TB: $2,599
  • 2TB: $3,199

Pre-orders opened October 16, and sales start Friday, October 23, in more than 70 countries, with 28 more countries added on October 30. Shipping estimates for US pre-orders slipped quickly into January 2027, so if you want one early, check Apple's page for current dates. Apple has also said Apple Pencil support is coming later this year.

The Apple product page has the full specs, and the MacRumors guide tracks availability.
