Claude Duet is a new product from Anthropic, announced on October 21, 2026, as a research preview. It's a separate app where Claude works as a proactive agent rather than waiting for you to open a chat. You message it with tasks, and it works on its own computer in the cloud, using the apps you connect. It sends a short morning brief about what needs your attention, keeps working while you're away, and checks with you before sensitive actions such as sending a message, making a payment, signing a document or deleting a file.
It carries over the memory, skills and connected apps from your Claude account and runs on Claude Opus 5.5. Anthropic's own materials say it never directly sees your passwords and that a classifier guards against sharing sensitive information. Those are the company's claims, and the preview is early: Anthropic says it can still misjudge what's urgent.
Access is by waitlist and limited to Pro and Max subscribers in the US. Team and Enterprise plans aren't included yet. There's no separate price; it uses your plan's usage limits, and its background checks count toward them. You can join the waitlist on the Claude Duet product page.
