Here's what's solid and what isn't. The line comes from Bitcoin Magazine's post on X, dated October 23, 2026, which quotes CME Group as saying "Bitcoin primarily functions as a decentralized store of value" and that the asset is maturing along economic, functional and regulatory paths. A news write-up of the same statement is at Bloomingbit. I could not find CME's own document or press release containing those words, so treat it as the post's wording until you see the original.
Two things to keep separate. First, the claim is an opinion about how Bitcoin is used, not a measurement. CME is the operator of the Bitcoin futures market, so its view is a useful industry signal, but it is not a neutral study. Second, nothing in the statement says anything about price, so it doesn't change the numbers in a way you can calculate.
If you want to check it properly, look for the CME research note or publication it came from and read the exact paragraph around that sentence. The surrounding text will show whether this is a formal position or a line from a broader piece.
