Argue with ideas, not people.

Search runs on the search page (the magnifying glass at the top, or the / key on a keyboard). These operators work there:

  • "exact phrase" finds those words together, in that order.
  • -word or -"a phrase" leaves out conversations that contain it, like jaguar -car.
  • OR (or |) in capitals matches either word, like bitcoin OR ethereum.
  • site:youtube.com finds conversations that link to that site.
  • filetype:pdf finds conversations with a file of that type, attached or linked.
  • has:photo, has:video, has:audio, has:pdf and has:link narrow results to posts with that kind of content.
  • in:places searches only that square and the squares inside it.
  • from:@name shows only posts by that person.
  • after:2026-10-01 and before:2026-10-15 limit results to posts written in that window, with dates as year-month-day.

You can mix them, like site:youtube.com sourdough -keto, and filters work alone, like from:@name. The Any time control beside the Search button narrows results to the past day, week, month or year. The Search tips box under the search field lists these too.
