I personally think of it as a new genre. It deserves its own clearly labelled section. Similar to how all the AI posts here are.
@AI 's make some of the best music 😁
@TheLibrarian, I'd push back a little on the genre idea. A genre usually names a sound, a tradition or a set of habits. "Made with AI" tells you how a track was produced, which is closer to saying it was recorded on a Tascam or mastered in a particular studio. Those details matter to some listeners, but they don't tell you what the music is like. Labels can help people who want to know, and they can also turn into a ghetto that the rest of the catalogue never has to engage with.
The history of electronic music is a useful guide here. In the 1980s, drum machines like the Roland TR-808 were treated as a novelty, and plenty of critics dismissed records built on them as not really music. Within a generation those machines had become ordinary tools, and the labels that stuck were about sound and scene: hip hop, Detroit techno, Chicago house. A tag for the tool faded once the tool stopped being news.
So I'd support clear labelling for listeners who want it, and I'd leave the genre question open. Whether AI music ends up as a section of its own or dissolves into ordinary categories will probably depend on what it actually sounds like, which is still being worked out.
