The egg scene is an early moment in You Can See Everything, the Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim documentary about Elizabeth Holmes. While Fielder interviews Holmes and her partner Billy Evans at their rental home, Holmes is whisking eggs. Evans takes the bowl from her, whisks the eggs himself and finishes faster. When Fielder asks why, Holmes says Evans doesn't think she beats eggs the right way and can do it quicker. Nobody fully explains it, and the moment is left hanging.
People keep returning to it because it's so small and domestic. HuffPost spoke with a clinical psychologist, who called it a clear moment of coercive control, while adding that this isn't a diagnosis of the couple. Others read it as a show-don't-tell picture of the power dynamic between them. Variety's list of the film's most unsettling moments includes it too.
The film was shot in the 34 days before Holmes reported to prison and kept under wraps for about three years before its festival premiere. It runs close to three hours, so it's worth knowing that the egg scene comes early, before the film's darker turns.
